Your kitchen exhaust system is the backbone of your
business. If maintained properly, it will give you many years of trouble-free use. If neglected, it can cost thousands of
dollars in repairs and potentially more in downtime.
Was my hood, duct, and fan cleaned to bare metal?
- Yes. Our certified technicians
will clean your kitchen exhaust system to the bare metal and take before and after photos so you are certain that your sytem
is cleaned.
What type of fan do I have?
- Up Blast - Does my fan have hinges? If not, is the electrical conduit long enough for the fan to be tilted?
-
Utility - Does my fan have access panels to
clean both sides of the blades?
Do I have an adequate number of access
panels?
- Access Panels should be installed every 12 feet and at every bend
- A general rule of thumb is, if you can't see it, you can't clean it.
How often should I have my exhaust system cleaned?
- This
is not a simple question to answer. Many of our competitors will try to "pigeon hole" your needs based on volume,
heat, or type of establishment. The best way to determine your true service needs is to meet with one of our qualified representatives
and we can work with you to determine a cleaning and service plan that will meet both your budget and system requirements.
How often should I replace my grease filters?
- Grease filters are important because they allow the fan to draw air evenly along your cooking line.
- We can provide you with replacement grease filters if needed but more often than not
we can simply clean and reinstall your existing grease filters.
- They should be cleaned on a regular basis.
Are my belts in good condition?
- Belts should be changed semi-annually to ensure smooth operation.
- Our certified technicians will inspect your belts on every visit. We will keep you well informed on the
status of your belts and system maintenance needs.
Are
my bearings greased?
- Bearings should be greased when belts are changed to avoid seizure.
Does my hood have an up-to-date cleaning sticker?
- Is the box for inaccessible areas checked off? If so, ask the technician why.
- You will be aware of any areas that are inaccessible and all efforts made in an attempt
to clean these areas.
Is my exhaust cleaning company trained
and certified to clean and maintain my kitchen exhaust system?
- CECT certification is offered by the International Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Association
(IKECA)
Is your exhaust company available 24/7 for all your maintenance needs?
- Metro Steam Cleaning along with our
sister companies can meet all your service and emergency repair needs
for your kitchen exhaust system, your kitchen equipment, your restrooms, HVAC, and overall facility.
